Automobile Make and Model search for car parts?

Has anyone come with an automobile make and model search that customers can use when trying to find parts for their car? I would like my customers to be able to select their year, make, model, and maybe engine size. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!!

Maybe I have the same problem - parts for bikes. And I do not have yet a solution, but I continuesearching.

 

I think any kind of "attributes" are not a good solution for my problem. One should have a second order of categories / hierarchies.

 

I think it?s a problem of top-down and buttom-up hierarchies. For parts we have a hierarchical order:

Top-hierarchy: MODEL (contains Parts available for ALLl bikes of this model excluding sub-categories), par example model "Softail"

 

second:

=>TYPES (Parts available for all bikes of this type excluding parts in "MODEL" not specific for any year of bulding), par example "Softail Standard"

 

third:

==> YEAR, par example (Parts only specific for Softail Standard 1990

 

If you select "Softail Standard 1990" you should see all the specific parts from this year of bulding + all the specific parts of this model-type + all parts which are not specific.
