404 error when customer signs in

Hi,

I've just installed oscommerce and trying to configure it, but I've come across this strange problem when I sign in a dummy customer it comes up with a 404 error. The strange thing is that after I get this message I can click the back button in explorer and I'm actually signed in and can continue added items to the cart and can go through the complete checkout process.

I've been reading through the forum but haven't found this problem yet so I thought I'd post this.

I'm using shared SSL and my host has put a link back to my main folder so I don't have to use 2 copies of oscommerce.

Domain is www.hotshop.co.nz/catalog

Does anyone know what this problem might be? I can't figure out if its a cookie, session or just a shared ssl problem.

Feel free to create a dummy customer as it isn't live yet.

Heres the config if you need it...

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.hotshop.co.nz'); // eg, http://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers

define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://winplesk1.openhost.net.nz'); // eg, https://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers

define('ENABLE_SSL', true); // secure webserver for checkout procedure?

define('HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'www.hotshop.co.nz');

define('HTTPS_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'winplesk1.openhost.net.nz');

define('HTTP_COOKIE_PATH', '/catalog/');

define('HTTPS_COOKIE_PATH', '/hotshop_co_nz/catalog/');

define('DIR_WS_HTTP_CATALOG', '/catalog/');

define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/hotshop_co_nz/catalog/');

define('DIR_WS_IMAGES', 'images/');

define('DIR_WS_ICONS', DIR_WS_IMAGES . 'icons/');

define('DIR_WS_INCLUDES', 'includes/');

define('DIR_WS_BOXES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'boxes/');

define('DIR_WS_FUNCTIONS', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'functions/');

define('DIR_WS_CLASSES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'classes/');

define('DIR_WS_MODULES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'modules/');

define('DIR_WS_LANGUAGES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'languages/');

Thanks in advance

Since you have the scercure server defined above

define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://winplesk1.openhost.net.nz');

I don't thik you need the /hotshop_co_nz/ part

define('HTTPS_COOKIE_PATH', '/hotshop_co_nz/catalog/');

define('DIR_WS_HTTP_CATALOG', '/catalog/');

define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/hotshop_co_nz/catalog/');

see if changing it to this helps

define('HTTPS_COOKIE_PATH', '/catalog/');

define('DIR_WS_HTTP_CATALOG', '/catalog/');

define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/catalog/');

Thanks for the reply, I changed it to the paths specified but no luck, but you gave me some great ideas of which I have now fixed the problem.

Heres the fix if anyone needs to know for future reference.

define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://winplesk1.openhost.net.nz/hotshop_co_nz')

define('HTTPS_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'winplesk1.openhost.net.nz/hotshop_co_nz')

define('HTTPS_COOKIE_PATH', '/catalog/')

define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/catalog/')

Thanks again.

i had this same issue of having to add the SSL address to the configuration file. it seems to have worked, however its now showing the full path to the SLL in the url to the site if i click on anything suck as Login, or Register.

any ideas how i can fix it so it shows the propper URL?

thanks

susie
