ERROR MESSAGE-Use of Undefined constant-PROJECT VERSION Can anyone help me decipher this?

Can anyone help me decipher the error message I am getting at the moment? It seems to be as a result of me trying to install the paypal contribtution the other day which I have now deleted from the directory.[p]

Could the reason be to do with bad coding on the wwwroot\index.php page. I have copied the relevant part which I am wondering about here. The writing in red "doctype html public " is red on the actual coding page like there is something wrong with it.

no because the problem happens on other pages like login.php and product_info.php and advanced_search.php they all bring up a php error. could be something in application_top that causes this or the path configuration or some other common code that is executed.

Thanks for trying to help, it has to be to do with me trying to install the Paypal IPN Contribution the other day. I didn't change any of the code in any of the pages mentioned. I'm new to all this and finding it really hard I'm afraid.

if you have a backup it's worth trying to restore. And backup the current store as well, just in case its something simple. In many cases, you make just a mistake to one of the common files or configuration settings and its enough to bring the whole store down.

mmm I normally do have copie of the files I am changing and manage to put things right, but this time I can't seem to work it out as I said because I didn't realize straight away after making alot of file changes that I had broken the site. My computer must be storing the pathway to the website as I still get the original up now even when I click refresh and have cleared the cache.

I regret not taking more care now . I may have got mixed up with my index.php file, the one in root and root\includes I mean.

Project_version is defined in application top. I would guess that your error stems from something in there.

Am curious...is there any specific reason why you have two closing tags directly after HTML_PARAMS; ?

looking at your code it is difficult to tell if this would make the error but tags are very temperamental,

it seems the tag is closing something that doesnt appear to be open, this may mess with the syntax, not sure if this is to blame though

Thanks Andy you are right of course about the closing tag and I have changed that, but doesn't look like it was enough to sort my prob out. I have got totally confused between the root\index.php file and the root\includes\index.php file. I didn't realise until a few days later that I'd broken the site making some changes in the includes\index file, because my computer wasn't refreshing the page totally. Consequently I then couldn't find or mixed up the correct index file.

The name of the host has changed since the original backup copy of root\index was made.

Would me putting the paypal_ipn.php file in the catalog structure have caused any of this?

I just found that www.nettechshop.co.uk errors but www.nettechshop.co.uk/catalog works. Can someone see if it is the same on their computer for me and does that throw anymore light on the problem?

Sorry if I seem dense but I am where php is concerned, but am fairly normal in other aspects of my personality.

if you had a copy of the index.php files, in original form would you be able to compare these and maybe repair the damage..

I use a program called winmerge, a lot of folks on here speak highly of it.

it allows you to do file comparisons and merge or replace where required

this should make the job easier
