simbar Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Hello Everyone. I have completely lost my site after I moved it from catalog folder to the root folder. I have edited the includes/configure.php and the admin/includes/configure.php. Still I get a "Forbidden" page. What else do I have to edit? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Wendy James Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 I may be way off here but it sounds like there is something else going on. You should be seeing errors, not a forbidden page if you messed up something in the config files or didn't move something. Wendy James Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Is there any chance file permissions or ownerships got changed? Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database. Rule #2: Make sure there are no exceptions to Rule #1.
simbar Posted January 27, 2006 Author Posted January 27, 2006 I agree. How did you move the files? Is there any chance file permissions or ownerships got changed? Hello Wendy and Hello Graphics. I used the control panel provided by my web host. I simply selected all files and folders in catalog and clicked "move." Neither the permissions nor the ownership has changed. Thanks, and thanks for your prompt reply.
GraphicsGuy Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Ok. A couple more ideas. Is there a .htaccess file in the domain root from before the move? If so, review it for anything that would either restrict access or redirect it. (although it seems a failed redirect would result in a 404 error, not a forbidden). Did you have any mod rewrites in a .htaccess file (i.e. installed an SEO contribution that used them)? There again, it would seem that a flawed rewrite would generate an error, not a forbidden. But as quoted on the apache website, "Despite the tons of examples and docs, mod_rewrite is voodoo." So I suppose anything could happen. Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database. Rule #2: Make sure there are no exceptions to Rule #1.
