hiren Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Hi, I am new to osCommerce and have managed to successfully install the software on my webserver. I have tried the software but didn't see some features which I need for me to impliment the software for my upcoming site. I was not sure if the below listed features are available in osCommerce and if not, could they be achieved by editing the PHP code. Basically I looking to use osCommerce for template selling and subscription based service. The main features I am looking for are as under: - Able to add more fields to the Client registration form - Able to remove the unwanted fields from the Client Registration form - Able to remove the Shipment details part since the complete process is electronic (internet based) - Subscription based service where the client purchases the service for certain number of days and it expires once the aloted days are over, to explain this feature I am looking into provide Support services which is available for purchase for 60 days. Hence once purchased, osCommerce should display the number of Support days pending and on expiry should display an option to purchase new support period - Invoices - I guess I can have this from the contribution section - Cancel Order - Discount Coupon - Customizing osCommerce catlog: removing unwanted sections e.g. Review section - Clients are re-directed to the Shopping cart after payment is made (For starters we will be accepting only PayPal) - Able to add a product without images (this is basically for the service section) - Able to add more than 1 image for products I guess this should be it. Any help I receive shall be highly appreciated. Thank You in advance. Regards, Hiren Mehta
hiren Posted January 26, 2006 Author Posted January 26, 2006 Oh one more thing that I missed: - Ability to email the Cart administrator when an order is successfully placed. Regards, Hiren Mehta
Naegle Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Most of your needs can be found in the contibutions.
vasttech Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 To answer all your questions: YES. Some are there natively, others you will have to install contributions. The great thing about osC is that it is completely customizable. You will need a good understanding of PHP and HTML, but with that you can do just about anything you want with osC as all the code is open source. osCommerce Knowledge Base osCommerce Documentation Contributions
