SSL For Certain Files Linux Server GoDaddy Cert

Hello,

This is my first post to the forums. I have searched through other posts for hours and found snippets of information but unfortunately nothing that has been able to solve my problem.

First off, I have my hosting on a Linux server with hostexcellence. I just purchased a GoDaddy.com Turbo SSL Certificate. I uploaded the information to my server as instructed.

I only want the cart, log in and account areas secured which I think is basically pretty standard. My host told me that with Linux, SSL can't be forced so someone could go to my files as both http and https. I want the links to the important files (account, etc) to be secure. I honestly don't know how to do this. I went into the two configure files in both the admin and catalog and changed them per the instructions from others on here.

I am going to ask that people pay through paypal and send checks or money orders but I still want their personal information to be encrypted.

I have noticed that some individuals have both a catalog folder and an admin folder in the same directory but others have the admin folder in their catalog folder. Is this because of different installations? Mine was automatic through hostexcellence.

Please offer suggestions, I will post anything on here that is needed so that others can see where I might be going wrong. If I have to make the links to those specific pages secure, no problem, I just don't know how. I also want the entire admin to be secure. I have it password protected but that is not enough to suit me. If I type it in as https://www.mysite.com/admin then it is secure and shows the lock. When I then click on something, it is no longer secure and doesn't show the lock.

Thank you in advance for your hopefully soon and very informative answers!
