willhoward13 Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Dear All, I have just finished building a site, and am keen to add E-commerce to it. First question - is OS Commerce a good piece of software to use? Second, I am looking to read a definitive guide (which needs to be explained in laymans terms) that will help me work towards implementing E-commerce on my site. Any ideas? Thanks, W

Gil_e_n Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 I like osCommerce. It's basically infinitely changeable so long as you're willing to spend the time and effort teaching yourself how to program it. On the other hand, you do have to be willing to expend that basic effort. I like that, but it's not for everyone. One of the flaws of oscommerce is the knowledgebase isn't very complete, and mostly you end up running around a lot asking questions on these forums. I'm contemplating writing out a newbie FAQ and uploading it there with most of the really frequently asked questions, but I'm lazy and haven't gotten around to it yet. On the other hand, people are usually pretty happy to help around here if they know the answer and you aren't too obnoxious about not looking things up. Always BACK UP your files and your database before making any changes. Before asking questions, check out the Knowledge Base. Check out the contributions to see if your problem's solved there. Search the forums.
