PrettyWolfie Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Ok... I have a problem with my categories. I rearranged the categories on the site. So basically all the subcategories became parent categories. But, for some reason they stayed linked somewhere to their previous parent category. So, for instance when I have the featured products set for that category, but they show on the previous... Also they don't show the category description as the original parent categories do. Can anyone shed some light on the subject? Thankies!
Guest Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 each category has a parent_id field in the dbase which indicates the real parent category. If you just changed the layout of the store, this hierarchy will not change. For example if you enter all categories on the admin side at the top level, then they would be root categories.
PrettyWolfie Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 nooooo... they were MOVED to the parent category, they are not subcategories anymore. Even checked on the MySQL and all parent_ids are set to 0... but for some alien-from-outerspace reason they are behaving like they are subcategories, not in the structure, but on the box results, like new products and featured products, which pick up the queries from the category id.
Guest Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 so I understand you have contributions installed like featured products. Check also the cache, and if these contributions maintain somewhere a separate parent categories field.
PrettyWolfie Posted February 2, 2006 Author Posted February 2, 2006 And where would I look for that? :-"
