AlanR Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 I am obviously new to this but I cannot figure how to set up the database in phpMyAdmin. There is a "no priveleges" tag and I dont know how to change that. Please help You mean you have databases which phpMyAdmin can not see? Or do you mean you need to create a new one? Often the shared versions of phpMyAdmin you can access from your control panel do not allow creation of databases, you need to visit a different part of the control panel to create new ones. Local: Mac OS X 10.5.8 - Apache 2.2/php 5.3.0/MySQL 5.4.10 • Web Servers: Linux Tools: BBEdit, Coda, Versions (Subversion), Sequel Pro (db management)
arma Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Is this on your own server ? Or free one ? If ur own there should : 1.Create new DB go inside it and There should be privilegie on uper menu bar ! 2.Make sure ur using tested phpMyAdmin thing ! 3.If server is on Linux u can GRANT ACCESS and set privilegies in konsole tutorials for this is on mysql documentation pages !
leonthelion Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 If you are on a shared hosting plan (if you don't know what this is, maybe share the name of your hosting company), you probably don't have total control over your database creation. It may be best to check your hosting company's website or read their help forum on creating mysql databases. I am with Aplus.net and had a real nightmare initially. But after hassling their support people enough, I got the information I needed to get osCommerce up and running.
