UPS Shipping module charges a tad more than necessary

When I receive an order my shipping module tends to charge $2 over the actual cost of shipping UPS Ground (on average). I've played around with it and found that dropping the weight on each item gets it closer to actual cost but I've reached a bottom point. It may have to do that I sell prints and they are very thin packages to ship.

 

If I were able to shave $1 off the top shipping cost on each order I would be feel much more comfortable - I feel I may be losing potential customers based on the seemingly costly shipping.
