European Date Format in Customer Registration

Looked everywhere, KB, old pdf doc for 2.2MS2, forums...just cannot find it!

...People are already criticizing us that this is confusing (in Europe)

How do we change the DATE FORMAT to the European Norm, please?

i.e., on the customer registration page at "Create an Account"

Date of Birth: * (eg. 05/21/1970) is listed

 

How do we change the db safely to be in the Euro standard: i.e. 21/05/2006

 

Curiously, the date on the front page in the standard blue CSS line at the botom is in Euro format
