Specials on front page

My OSC isnt really customized yet asIt is a fairly fresh install, but I tried to add the specials contrib that replaces you products_new.php file and get this message:

 

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: tep_db_query() in /home/keywestw/public_html/osCommerce/catalog/products_new.php on line 25

That error is saying that it cannot find the function named tep_db_query. But that is an important function in the site so I can't imagine your site is only having this one error. Do a search in your includes/functions/database.php file to make sure the funtion is in there. If it is, try replacing the new_products.php file with the original to see if the problem goes away. If it does, then there is something wrong with the file you are using.
