Modifying the category section.

Hi

I am planing on adding several thousands products that appear under 100s of categories. Before I attempt at adding all the products I like to know if there is any way to clean up the category section that appears on Left column.

 

I only want to show the sub categories on main category on the left column.

 

For example:

there are 10 different brands of cars. Each brand of car has 10+ sub categories for car models. Each sub category has 10 or more sub categories for parts (brake, Suspension, motor, etc) under each part category I may have other categories for OEM or aftermarket part.

 

BMW------>320------------------>Brakes--------------------->etc

------>530 ------>Transmission

------>740 ------>Motor

------>850 ------>Suspension

GM

Toyota

Honda

Suzuki

etc

 

 

As you can clearly see there will be too many categories. It will confuse any shopper.

 

 

In order to clean up the category column that appears on the left, I like to limit the displayed categories to only subcategory of the main category. So when a shopper clicks on a brand of car, after this point he wont be able to see any category higher than that brand of car.

 

Is it possible to do this?
