Hi,

Let me start from the beginning:

>>>

I've created an OS Commerce shop on a temporary webserver, I wanted to have it running when the new server was finished. Untill so far I had it runnig... :)

>>>

The new server (account) was ready so I downloaded all the files and directories from the 'old' server, and uploaded it to the new one... After that I imported the MySQL database onto the new server, and modified all the configuration files to the new setup. And the shop was running on the new server

>>>

Then I wanted to change something in the admin section. So I went to /oscommerce/admin. And I noticed that I forgot to modify the configure.php file in /oscommerce/admin/includes. So I changed it, but then the strange thing happend: YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO FILL IN A PASSWORD TO ENTER THE ADMIN SECTION!! crying.gif

Don't know what I did wrong, because the file corresponds with the file on the old server. And that admin section is still protected...

First I thought it maybe was a cookie problem or something, but I deleted them all, and that had no effect. So I passed the link to the guy for who this shop is ment, and he also came directly in the admin section and could change everything... Can someone maybe tell me what I am doing wrong?

Unfortunatly I can not show the links to you guys, so that you could see what I mean, but I hope my story will be clear enough.

You basically have three choices

1. go to your hosting control panel and use the password protect directories function if available ( and it probably is) this is the easiest solution.

2. Install one of the admin contributions.

3. manually setup a .htaccess file for your admin, you can find some info to start HERE, and if you need more you can do a google search and find more info than you will ever need on the subject.

The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.

Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems?

There are many very useful osC Contributions

Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here

BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??
