yokd Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 We are trying to install osCommerce on our hosting provider of GoDaddy.com. My first problem is the .htaccess i added thesel lines to the .htaccess file inside the admin dir. # $Id: .htaccess,v 1.3 2003/06/12 10:53:20 hpdl Exp $ # # This is used with Apache WebServers # # For this to work, you must include the parameter 'Options' to # the AllowOverride configuration # # Example: # # <Directory "/usr/local/apache/htdocs"> # AllowOverride Options # </Directory> # # 'All' with also work. (This configuration is in the # apache/conf/httpd.conf file) # The following makes adjustments to the SSL protocol for Internet # Explorer browsers <IfModule mod_setenvif.c> <IfDefine SSL> SetEnvIf User-Agent ".*MSIE.*" \ nokeepalive ssl-unclean-shutdown \ downgrade-1.0 force-response-1.0 </IfDefine> </IfModule> # If Search Engine Friendly URLs do not work, try enabling the # following Apache configuration parameter # # AcceptPathInfo On # Fix certain PHP values # (commented out by default to prevent errors occuring on certain # servers) # #<IfModule mod_php4.c> # php_value session.use_trans_sid 0 # php_value register_globals 1 #</IfModule> AuthName "Restricted Area" AuthType Basic AuthUserFile /dir/dir/u/s/e/username/html/catalog/admin/.htpasswd AuthGroupFile /dev/null require valid-user becasues GoDaddy does not allow you to put your .htpasswd file outside the www dir for all browser's to stumble upon - should i just go ahead and get a php password security instead of taking the risk of leaving the .htpasswd file in the admin dir? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My next problem is this we purchased the SSL high-assurance from GoDaddy and are having problems getting the CSR - GoDaddy says i'm supposed to get the CSR from osCommerce and paste it into the SSL request from them, however after reading the knowledge base of osCommerce it says to receive it from our hosting provider which is GoDaddy????? Wish somebody could explain this as to that i'm not a server person mostly just a web designer? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sincerly, Aug
ozcsys Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 osCommerce has nothing to do with a csr, that is strickly something that is done through your hosting company. Personally I would rethink my hosting arrangments, you can do a search for godaddy in the forum and you will find that getting osC installed and then keeping it up and going on godaddy is way more trouble than it is worth and if godaddy support does can not even give you the correct info on a csr you know you are going to have problems getting them to help you with anything remotely difficult The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??

I had no problems getting my SSL set-up with GoDaddy. Make sure you get ahold of their SSL department. It's a different phone # than their main tech support. The woman I spoke to in that department needed to verify some kind of permission set-up with OS Commerce, but was familiar with the program. I wish I remember what she needed me to check, but anyway, I was able to get my SSL certificate going with GoDaddy as my host. I agree that the initial information you were given about the CSR was incorrect. Did you get this fixed yet?
