Local Web Server Woes

Hi All

 

Ok I don't know if this is the right section for this question or even if it has been asked before.

 

But I am having trouble setting up a local web server for testing purposes. I recently began hosting a web site with a OS Commerce backend and need to edit the pages, but don't want to edit them and test them on the live site.

 

So what I have done is downloaded the latest version of Apache, PHP and Mysql and installed them, my Apache server can read PHP pages but when I try copy the website into the apache folder and go to http://localhost/store/index.php it displays "register_globals is disabled in php.ini please enable it" which I have done. But it still gives me the same error.

 

I have tried restarting Apache and my machine but to no luck. I then even installed a Suse Linux 9.3 and confirgured it as a web server but it displays the same error.

 

However when I use IIS it gives me a user denied error in database.php line 19 I think. So on that, what is the default user and password that the page pushes through to mysql?

 

Any help is greatly appreciated.
