Guest Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Administration Panel / Catalog - Product Attributes
habsr1 Posted January 19, 2006 Author Posted January 19, 2006 I have added the different options but it still doesn't appear in the description of the product Is there something else that I am doing wrong?
Guest Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Once you add them to the attributes list, you have to "assign" them to the products. For example, in Product Options, you would put in Size. Over on the right you have Option Values where you would assign Small, Medium Large to the Size option. Do the same for Colors (Colors in Product Options, the actual colors in Option Values) Now in the bottom you have Product Attributes. Find your item in the Product Name drop down then select your Product Option and values. Set any price change accordingly. Decide whether you are adding/subtracting that change and hit Insert. That should do it. Alternatively, if you have a lot of products with a bunch of different attributes, you might find a contribution that will take some of the work off your hands.
habsr1 Posted January 19, 2006 Author Posted January 19, 2006 I went there and I'm still not sure how to make the options available when a customer clicks on a product. What I have are products that come in various colours, lengths and sizes. I want to be able to allow the customer to select whichever colour/size/length etc that they want without posting the same product for each different attribute. Example....XL shirts. Colours available.. 1. blue 2. black 3. grey These options in a drop down menu. Please help
habsr1 Posted January 20, 2006 Author Posted January 20, 2006 Thank you Chinchilla2 that worked perfect. This will save me lots of time. Thanks again. Pete
Guest Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 Hi. I read your problems with product attributes and the help you received from Chinchilla2. I'm still confused and wondering if you could help me? I finally figured out how to create an attribute but I need to add separate boxes. One for Size and one for color. When I select these choices they both show up in the same drop down menu. Is this the only way it can be done? I was hoping for separate boxes. I think it looks weird having the colors and sizes intermingled. Thanks for any help you can provide.
Guest Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Melanie, Both Size and Color need to be a "Product Option" then your sizes and colors need to be under "Option Values" (make sure you assign sizes to the Size option and your colors to the Colors option) Now down at the bottom where the "Product Attributes" section is, you need to pick that item, assign a color option to it. Do this for each color. Then go back and pick it again, this time assigning a size option to it. This should give you a color drop down and a size drop down. It's a lot of work, so you might look into one of those contributions if you have a lot of colors and sizes.
IdiotWind Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 I am also trying to configure an OSC to display products, such as shoes, that come in color, size and widthsize, as a example. I input 7 colors and 5 sizes for one item of apparel using Easy Populate. I did this two different ways. In the first I had 35 products with the same product name but each with a specific combination of color and size. In the second way I imported one product with all colors and sizes selected in the spreadsheet that EP uses. The first way resulted in my product page having 35 products all with the same name and no mention of size or color anywhere (I guess I would have to put that in the description which kind of defeats the automation processs of EP). In the second import, with only one product but many colors and sizes, I get just one product listed in the online catalog but no dropdown boxes for either color or size much less both. Those who have succeeded at getting dropdown boxes in their store, how did you change the configuration to achieve this? Also what version of OSC are you running? Thanks.
