sing2trees Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Hi everyone, I have a couple of newbie questions, which I have been trying to find the answers on the forums but haven't found them as yet - so thought I would post a new topic! Here goes. 1 - SSL. How do I go about getting an ssl certificate, are they expensive, and are these the best way to show my customers that I care about their security? 2 - I already have a different website, and was selling using paypal buy it now buttons. If I switch to oscommerce, do I loose the design of my original website, or can i merge them both together? The current site has other pages such as reviews, message boards etc, and wouldn't really want to loose them all. 3 - I have downloaded the oscommerce manual to slowly work my way through. Does anyone know of any other good user guides for complete newbies?! Thanks for your time and patience! Ben

Ben Hello, 1) SSL certificates are quite expensive (although that is relative to how much you want to spend). You can get hosting packages that include SSL so you have no need to worry about that yourself. 2) Chances are unless you're a php wizz you will lose the layout. Message boards could be carried across no worries. Reviews? No idea. Sorry. 3) Try www.oscdox.com . If you've got the patience to search for it, nearly everything you want to know can be found in the osCommerce forums. Jim
