I hope someone can help me here.

I have a new installation on a remote web server, however when I go to use the browse button in the Admin module, my local Windows browser opens. I have tried to enter the path manually with no success except for once when I entered a backslash (\) to pont to the file and it worked partially.

Can someone give me some clues on this as it was working before with the default store.

Thanks in advance...

When you say "default store" I guess you mean a local installation on your PC.

For a remote server it works the way you describe, browse allows you to upload an image from your local PC. You can not "browse" a remote server's directories via an http connection, the connection would have to be ftp (or WebDAV) and that's beyond the scope of osC as it's written.

Local: Mac OS X 10.5.8 - Apache 2.2/php 5.3.0/MySQL 5.4.10 • Web Servers: Linux

Tools: BBEdit, Coda, Versions (Subversion), Sequel Pro (db management)

Hi Alan,

Thanks for your reply. I have an installation of osC on a remote web server and I want to display the product images. I find that I can only upload the images into the "images" directory and to get it to save I have to enter a backslash before the file name (eg. \wrangler.jpg). I find this strange & I cannot get seem to get images to display in sub directories (eg. images/manufacturer/wrangler.jpg).

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Also do you know how to remove the strech mode when displaying images?

Cheers

Peter.

I created a contribution for using subdirectories

There's a screenshot in this thread:

As to the "stretching" only define one dimension, the horizontal or the vertical. Defining both will cause distortion unless your images are all the same aspect ratio. Planning your images is important. You shouldn't just size them in a willy nilly fashion.

There are tons of image contributions which can help.
