I am new to this. do you need to know code to use oscommerce

I'm not sure that you need to know code but I think it helps if you know basic html stuff.

 

For instance, when I firts started out with osc, I didn't know any php coding. But once you start working with it and reading, you start to understand what some of the code does. However, it's been about 6 months or so that I've been working with it, and I can write any of my own code at all. I usually half to look at some code and copy it.

 

So to answer your question, no, I don't think you need to know any code to use osc. However, you'll need to do alot of reading and searching. Get familiar with the search tool on this forum.

The goal should be that you grow and learn from the system as you get into it and use it. You'll find if you do, that you'll be able to create your store the way that you want to create it and you will gain a sense of self satisfaction. There are a few who frequent these forums who appear to remain forever helpless.

 

IMO in order to be successful with osC you need to have a desire to learn and a willingness to apply the effort. It may at times be challenging, yet on the other hand its not exactly rocket science. Yes the software is free to download, the cost comes in the time and effort required to apply the software effectively.
