Buy now button logs off user

Users are being logged off when they press buy now button. when they log in they find the product in their cart.

 

how can i stop this logging out problem

i just realised if they click on the product name it takes the user to the product information page. where they can add to cart. but the buy now button just seems to logg them off and show them the your cart is empy message

no,

Everything else on my site works fine. When I remove the buy now column everything works. But for some reason the buy now button is not adding products to the cart for guests. And logged users are logged off when they hit the buy now button.

 

My store is heavily modified, but I haven't messed with the category pages or product info pages.

 

But then I think it must be in the buy now stuff because it is the only thing that errors.
