Hello to all the forum members

This is my first post here.

I am looking for a hebrew language pack for the oscommerce in order to bulit store.

English version should be fine too, but the hebrew version will help me a lot.

If you have any or heard of a person who have one please let me know.

Thanks for your time

HI there...

We have installed the following Hebrew contribution pack and found it to work perfectly.

http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...7/search,hebrew

It is one of twenty languages we have installed already for our site, and this compatability is important because we have many different character sets and different currencies in the same shop.

We had no character display problems with this contribution and no apparent conflicts with other language contributions.

Some notes:

1) The original contribution had a UK flag for some unknown reason. There is also offered an Israeli flag in an update. If you want you can insert any comparable gif of the flag. The shop doesn't care. It is only looking for a gif of the same standard size, (preferably, for most people,) although you could probably change sizes and experiment. You might want a waving gif flag, for example.

2) Default currency issues. The contributions usually are written to show USD as the default currency, as the shop system was apparently originally designed for the USD market. In the admin you can have the language link to the default currency, if you want, so when they see a language they get the logical default currency for that country. There is a little place in the code for each language where you change the USD to the ISO international code for any other curency... for Israeli New Shekels, for example...depending on what you expect your customers to have in the pockets, so to speak. The way we set it, each country has its obvious home language and default currency, +there is a drop down list of all currencies, and flags to show languages. The key here is that you can set the shop to deliver the same identical page in any other combination of languages and currencies the customer chooses...but of course only the How To Use The Shop Pages is translated...and the body text you have to do yourself.

In short...

It is a nicely done contribution and there are no mistakes that we found affecting the installation.

Good luck...

Good morning, good question...

There is a little box to the right of the text as follows:

6 Feb 2004 (here is the little box with a green arrow down)

Left Click on it and your downloader will open asking you where to save it on your computer. The rest is easy. Contributions are usually zip files. For starters, why not download it to new folder on your desktop? You can move it later. Save the zip the folder in a new folder on your desktop, then open it inside the new folder. Remember to name the new folder. Usually there is a text file inside contributions explaining what to do with the files. Typically you will find the files separated into two folders (inside your new folder) One will go somewhere into the /catalog/includes folder inside of osC and the other will go into the /catalog/admin folder. The instructions will guide you. The names of the files inside each folder are often the same,so be careful not to mix the contents of the folder. The files in each folder are Very Different, even if they have the same more or less generic name!

...

Just as a footnote to my #2 above, when you are ready to change default currencies for a language, go look at includes/languages/english.php with a stupid text file program like Notepad (not Word or any word processor because they will put in bad characters into your work). Find 'USD' nearthe top of the file and change it to the three letter ISO code for whatever language you want as the 'default currency' people will see when they select that language.

...

OK...you are ready to go. Go look at the Knowledge Base http://www.oscommerce.info/ and use the search window in the Forum a lot! ...The trick is READ READ READ because most of the things you will want to do, somebody did before, and they have already gotten help from somebody on how to do it! -30-
