MnMeBiz Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I used to have my OSC catalog in 'domain'/catalog/index.php and a .htaccess redirect from 'domain' to 'domain'/catalog All was good. Google used to beat me to death a few times a week. Indexing my whole site. About 2-3 months ago I moved the /catalog up to my domain root. www.ThePartyFowl.com Since, my Google presence has eroded as the google cache of the old /catalog products have gone away. Now, Google visits about once every 2 weeks. Doesn't seem to do a complete job. If I do info:www.thepartyfowl.com It shows nothing. If I then further do : find web pages from the site Google shows me 3 of my pages at my new doc root location. Indexed about Jan. 1, 2006, Nuthing more. No products. It does show many of my defunct pages to products at the old locations: www.thepartyfowl.com/catalog/..... I have searched here and cannot find any suggestion as to tools to use to find out what Google doesnt like about me since my change. All seems fine with msn , iktomi/Yahoo, etc.... Any suggestions? Thanks Mike
Guest Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 join the club except i had moved my site back in september. my ranking has never recovered. they're doing some special "update" right now (again!) that is screwing a lot of legitimate sites over.. while the spammy and/or useless sites claim the top ranks i've given up on google.. i've been finding better searches on msn now anyway

I'm barely there. I think Google Sitemaps may be the answer. Trying it now. At least it may indicate problems since it has an error tab. If u try this method, check the OSC contributions, there are Google sitemap generators which make it easy. Thanks Mike
Guest Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 i've been using the gsitecrawler to generate my maps for about a month or two.. it does bring google to your site. but it doesn't stay very long. i believe the most i've had it around was 2-4 hours in one swoop my goal is to get my old rank back (which was good for my industry) how long google stays or how frequently it stops by really doesn't matter to me
