i just removed all oscommerce and reinstalled and still cannot uncheck the cc option. is there a way to manually remove if? also does this option send all credit card numbers to me for manual processing?

go into admin>modules>payment

highlight the one that says credit card and select "remove"

thats it, it should then be gone..

this is nuts, i tried removing it too, then tried checking myself out and when you get to the options of payment it errors like a sonofah. i put it back and it worked fine but still cant remove the option to use. do most cc merchants accept manual entries? if so i wont worry about and just wait until i sign up for a merchant account.

It's not an issue of "do most merchant accept credit card payments" or not. It's an issue of having your store set up correctly. Your CC payment module showing up were it doesn't belong could be a sign of a lerger problem that you'd want to fix.

Go to your admin panel, now go to modules, and payment. Now unistall credit cards.

Are you still getting Credit Card as an option during checkout? Post a screenshot of your checkout_payment.php page if you are.
