mreigle Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 I'm finding conflicted information in the forum. I'm working to get my site optomized for Google indexing. I've added the all products contribution, but I'm still receiving a session ID in the address bar. Is this okay? Also, should I enable forced cookie use so that I don't get the revolving Google spider problem that I've been reading so much about? How many people DON'T have cookies enabled in their web browser? I've heard about a contribution that removes the session ID from all pages except for the ones where they're absolutely necessary, but I can't seem to find it. Does it exist? I've also done a robots.txt, meta tags, alt tags full of keywords, and i'm working at a high keyword volume aspect and a high linkback volume. I'm also going to be participating in the Google Sitemaps BETA program. Is there anything I'm missing to get the best ranking I can? Thanks!

Is this okay? no, they are unrelated, it means you cookie settings are wrong should I enable forced cookie use open choice, I would say no especially because of your quote above Does it exist? yes but I would not recommend that solution, use your spiders.txt Treasurer MFC

boxtel Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 someone please help! well, there are thousands of posts about incorrect cookie settings. still, the least you could do is help people help you as in posting your configure.php file (without id's and passwords) or the address of your site. Otherwise it is like asking "my site does not work as espected, what could be wrong" which makes for a nice speculation session. Treasurer MFC

osSea Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 In Admin->Configuration->Sessions, there is a setting called 'Prevent Spider Sessions'. You can find out more about this setting by searching the Knowledge Base.
