Guest Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Oscommerce dummy needs a little basic instruction. Someone just set up my shopping cart and I would like to make a backup of it on my computer or a disc, well, both. One cannot be too safe. When I go to Tools / Database backup manager, I see "Backup Directory: /mnt/web_f/d05/s48/b025105d/www/catalog/admin/backups/". What does this mean? Where is this directory? Then when I click, "Backup" it says, "Download only." Does this mean it will download to my computer? I just want to be sure this is what to do before I push any buttons. :o) Thanks, Jan

This is basically all your product and customer info plus your site settings. To backup your files you will need to ftp them to your local computer using your favorite ftp program. To completely backup your site you must do both. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??

So that backup in admin will backup the database files to my computer, if I understand you correctly. It sounds like I can push the backup button without fear of disturbing anything. To do the ftp, what is the name of the directory or folder that needs to be ftped to my computer? Or are there several? I looked there, but got confused about what to send. Best wishes, Jan
