Shipping by weight

Hey Everyone,

Here is a quick question.

Explaination Frist:

I have set up my 2 products in a table rate to offer free shipping. I had to make up some fake weight numbers to make this work. Here are the details below.

Products:

Product A: weight = 100

Product B: weight = 1

Table Rate:

if weight = 200 or more then free shipping

if weight = 199 or less shipping is $6.75

So the idea here is that if the customer purchases 2 of Products A (weight = 200) then free shipping applies, but if the purchase 1 of Product A and 5 of product B (weight = 105) then shipping = $6.75

This is the only way I could get free shiping to work based on what products they purchase.

THE QUESTION...

1a) is there a better way to do this? it seems like a quick fix to me

1b) will this idea screw me over if I use the FEDEX contrib where rates will automatically be generated and billed to the customer because the rate is based on weight?

PLS Help!!!

does anybody know if the FEDEX mod is bases the shipping cost on weight?

I have not used the fedex mod but I am sure that it does. That is how they normally charge so it would have to be based on weight.

The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.
