A2JC4life Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 I can't seem to find any information about how to install a contribution. I'm pretty unfamiliar with Linux, so I could use some instructions that aren't in "tech talk." :) I'm wanting to install, in particular:http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...l/search,paypal. But I don't know which thing I need to download, how to get it to where the cart is, etc. I mean, do I just need to upload the file to a particular folder? Does it need to be installed someplace? I'm assuming I'll need to install it as a module from within the Admin area at some point, but I'm not sure what to do in preparation. Maybe I'm just missing an obvious answer someplace, but I've searched the KnowledgeBase and the forums and am coming up empty.
♥Vger Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 There is no easy answer as to how to install a contribution, because each install is different. The contributions which are written the best also have comprehensive installation instructions with them. With regard to using the PayPal IPN system, this is the module you should install. It's all new files and the easiest install you'll ever come across: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...ns,2679/page,15 Vger
ozcsys Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Something else you should do is find and read the support thread for any contribution you are thinking of installing before you install it. This can save you a lot of wasted time and energy. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??
A2JC4life Posted January 15, 2006 Author Posted January 15, 2006 Thank you. I managed to get my first contribution installed yesterday. :) It still isn't *working* right, but that, of course, is another thread.
