im new to all this and i have no idea how to add a password to my admin site or how to get access to the .htacess file, could someone please explain it to me,

The easiest way to do this is see if you can password protect directories from your hosting control panel. You can from most of them. If not you will need to manually setup your .htacess file or install one of the contributions for protecting your admin. You can do a google search on setting the file up in you need instuctions for doing so.
