When I click on the products in one of my categories (in the store), I get the following error on the left side of the screen.

Categories<'chmod' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. 'chmod' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. 'chmod' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. 'chmod' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. It does not happen in all categories - just one so far.

Look in your categories.php file in your admin folder and search for <chmod /td>

It looks as though someone has either screwed up that file or else someone has tried to hack your site at some point. CHMOD is an Apache web server command for altering file permissions.

I searched the categories.php file for chmod & it is not in there the file.

I am still installing (with help from someone else), so no one has hacked into the site

I have a Windows server - is this part of the reason for this error?

Just wondering if anyone else has a suggestion. I did not explain it well - the error does not occur when I click on the categories - that seems to work fine & the products show up, the error occurs when I click on some of the products, the product information does come up, but also this error shows up on the left side of the screen.

Try searching both the catalog/product_info.php and the catalog/includes/languages/PICKYOURLANGUAGE/product_info.php files. Since it's appearing when you click a product, it may be in one of those files.

I am encountering the same or very similar issue to this;

Details here: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?sho...=not+recognized

But I am on RC1 and it seems to be only affecting the Non SSL side of the site. I am also on windows based server.

Does anyone have an ideas please?

Edit: I have checked the two product info files (english lang only on my site) and no CHMOD commands found. The site was working fine two weeks ago, then was away and now i have returned the site is having this problem. Any help and ideas greatly appreciated. Please post replies to the other thread as this is strictly not an install issue, as it was working ok.

Cheers

John..
