GraphicsGuy Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 For a good thread on osc and ssl go here. As for different levels of certificates, as that thread states, recognized brands are generally compatible with all common browsers while some of the lesser known may have problems in some browsers. Within the brands, there are usually different levels of verification. Fast approval certs just verify your domain registration. The higher trust level certificates (more expensive too) require proof of business identification, address, etc. Since trust is one of the biggest issues in ecommerce, the higher trust certificates are just one of many ways to confer credibility and trust to potential customers. Most customers don't look for anything but the padlock in the browser, but the more skeptical/careful ones do. hth Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database. Rule #2: Make sure there are no exceptions to Rule #1.
