Search criteria issues

Just a slight problem seeing if anyone has a solution.

 

We sell CD's and dont put in "the" in front of album titles and artists

 

for instance: the fighters we just enter fighters.

 

The problem is if people search for "the fighters" then nothing comes up but this is a popular way ppl want to search but we dont want to have to put "the" in front of all the artists when uploading products.

 

Is their away to auto the search method so that it would still come up??

In you admin section, go to Configuration > My Store. Make sure Default Search Operator is OR.

Thanks that hopefully will be ok for the client, only problem ive seen is now nearly everythings gets returned in the search as a lot of things have 'the' in it. Guess there is no way around this? As they only wanted it when the was crucial to have the product returned.

What if you strip out words you omit from the title? I assume you omit "the" and "a." Any others? Those are pretty much pointless words in any query, so would it work to always strip those two words out of the query? Then you could set the search back to AND.
