Multi-merchant functionality

Hi all;

 

I'd like to use OSCommerce as part of a community oriented shopping site. The idea is to allow local shops to "feature" up to ten or so products on the site.

 

I would not be, in this arrangement, the actual merchant; I just wish to provide a platform for local businesses.

 

As such, I'm running into issues where I'd like would-be shoppers to, upon checkout, be supplied the contact information for actual sales and fulfillment. I'd also like to disable payment options altogether for the time being. The idea is just to let people browse the town's merchants and merchandise, not necessarily to buy online (Though that might change.)

 

Are there add-ons that can implement this functionality? Would I be better served by another "cart" package? OSCommerce is definitely "overkill" at this point, however, I'd very much like to use it on the site now, so that my "expansion" options are entirely open....

(Note: I have very little doubt that this topic is covered *somewhere* in the forums, please be assured that I did indeed try to ferret the information out. :thumbsup: )
