slow access time

Guest

Recommended Posts

am having trouble with a site that has gone live already:

the access time is very slow sometimes and can often freeze. details:

server- 1and1

address- www.qrsport.com

(i am actually pointing the domain server to www.qrsport.com/catalog/catalog/index.php, could this be the problem????)

all advice would be much appreciated

You're using javascript and pre-loading images in a spliced format, and this will slow downloading times. When I go to your homepage the header image loads fairly quickly but it then hangs before loading the rest of the page, and I think this is down to the preload function.

Okay, took another look at your site and the slow access time is actually being caused because you have the whole of the website configured to use ssl. Mouse-over any of the links, or right-click any of the images, and you'll see that they're all https links. SSL pages are encoded and take longer to load, the same for anything which passes through an ssl connection.

Some people think it's a good thing, security wise, to put all of their site behind ssl - but what they don't realise is that search engines don't rank https pages so your search engine listings will be non-existent.
