New Users: Password Protecting Your Admin Area

I'm reading alot of the "Password Protect My Admin" problems that some of the users are having... that's expected, but I've realized that some of you are trying to protect your admin directory when where you don't need to. Below is a real simple approach to let you know you don't need to do so.

 

a. You download the store and installed it on your hard drive/server, just testing it.

b. People aren't going to connect to your server on your hard drive.

c. You are transferring the store to the internet once you're finished building it.

d. Your testing is done while not connected to the internet.

 

If any of the above is you...... you do not need to password protect your admin folder that's on your hard drive.

 

The time you want to protect your admin folder is when you're going live with the store, either through your own local server or through your hosting company.
