Hello Everyone,

I have installed oscommerce for a friend and noticed the admin area is not protected by a login? what's up with that? anyone can just go in there and change everything? if they go to : www.link/oscommerce/admin they are in without asking for username/password :s

Your documentation also explains to you that you need to password protect that directory too.

Log into you cpanel, then list all of your folders, find the admin folder, then put the protection on it. Most cpanels I've seen are labeled "Protect" instead of "Password Protect", which they both mean the same. It'll take you a few seconds to do.

If you're having problems trying to protect that folder, your hosting company should be able to help you. But I'm confident you'll see how to protect it once you log into your cpanel.

What do you see when you open up the tep_database-pr2.2-CVS.pdf file that came with your osCommerce download?

Admin is not protected when osCommerce MS2 is installed. You can usually apply password protection via a feature called Password or Directory Protection in your Web Hosting Control Panel.
