GuyTrying
Ok. I have downloaded & unzipped. Now what? I am a little confused after reading some of the posts. I have a 600 page website already built & would like to attempt to use OSCommerce as a form. Is it possible to work on this on my PC & then simply add a link in my site to it? I would then still be able to upload using the software that I use. Is that possible? If so, how do I actually start working on this on my desktop (this is probably the most basic question there is)? Thanks in advance
cyclonut
First thing you want to do, is go to your "oscommerce-2.2ms2-051113" folder, and read file called "documentation.pdf Good luck, hope you have no problems...

I've done what you're trying to do already to a clients site that has over 480 pages. It's doable, but you must be ready for the long haul. 1. You will have to populate the store with your products and so forth, before you can attempt this. 2. You will have to modify the stores links to your web pages. 3. You will have to copy the products pages into your existing pages, or you can create a "template" of your site, and paste the store pages into the pages. 4. Or, you can use something like Dreamweaver to connect to your database, and load your products and so forth into your newly created pages. You must keep in mind that if you attempt this and a person that is on your web page site and clicks on a link that takes them inside of the store, like the "checkout" process, you'll have to make the links link back to your site, and not the store. An example: I go to your site, I order something, I go to checkout, I decide to "continue" shopping, after I click the "continue shopping link, I suppose to go back to the web page I just came from, not the store page. These are just a few things you'll need to be prepared to do. There are more, but this should give you a general idea of what's needed to be done to do what you're trying to accomplish. I did it..... so can you! I'll add my endorcement to the documentation.pdf file. Many of the questions that are posted in the forums for help can be answered by reading that particular document. It's an excellent resource for everyone and especially for those just getting started. Be well, Tina If you're not having fun you're not doing it right Teach a person to fish rather than give them a loaf of bread or however that saying goes.
