stevenrwoolley
I have been working on uploading my products and have noticed a considerable slow down when browsing the site. Any suggestions? My site is not up and running yet but it is www.onlinetransmissionparts.com thanks, Steve
stevenrwoolley
It is even worse, why is my site so slow? Is it because of all the parts I have imprted? Can I do anything to make it faster without removing products?
vasttech
First, turn off the category product counts. With as many products as you have this will cause some delays in your site. Second, you may want to search for tips on optimizing mySQL (i.e. adding indexes, and other settings) on the forums. Third, with that many products, you may look at your host. If you are on a shared server and there are 100 other sites running on that server you will definitely experience some delays with that many products. If you have additional products that you plan on loading you may look into a dedicated server. Most likely though your problems are related to mySQL and the number of products you have. Also, check your log files to see if you can see any errors or problems. You may try enabling the Page Parse Times in osCommerce for a little while just to get an idea of how long pages are taking to load. Don't leave them on though as they will slow your site down even more :)... Hope that helps. osCommerce Knowledge Base osCommerce Documentation Contributions

I will look into optimizing mySQL next. Thank you so much for the help.
