simbar
Hello. I am trying to set up an online art gallery, selling original paintings of various sizes. Is it possible to vary the thumbnail image sizes so that they correctly represent the actual paintings? The admin/image tool seems to rigidly allow only fixed sizes. Is there any other way of setting image sizes in the code or elsewhere?
agazad
what you can do is: set the width to equal something like 120 but leave the height field completely blank. if your images are a decent size then they should work. for a proper solution, i've always hated how osc pixelates and scales images for thumbnails. the best solution is to make every picture square (i.e. 400x400) so take your image into photoshop and go to image>canvas size; set them both to equal the highest one as to make the canvas square. upload your new square canvassed images. THEN install the OTF thumbnailler (search on contributions) which takes the square pics and generates much more eye pleasing thumbnails that now represent the shape of each product (paintings in your case). for an example see http://gsdd.co.uk/shop_saac1/ *make sure to set an image size of something like 150x150 or the thumbnailler contrib will not work. hope this helps... gary
