First off, I'm a total beginner to setting up an online store but I uploaded the catalog folder to my client's site and I'm in the setup part of the install so I guess I'm doing ok so far. B)

Anyway I'm at the screen where it's asking for the Database Server info which I have no clue what to put in? Where would I get this info?

Thanks in advance!

Scott

DB_Server is usually localhost, but it may not be so check with your hosting company

You need also to have your MySQL User Name and Password handy. If in doubt - same again, check with your hosting company.

Database name - this will be the name of the blank database you must create before you start to install osCommerce.

Hi

Im a newbie too.

Im at the set up screen and I add my info..

but it doesnt seem to want to take it.

What will be my hostname? The ip given to me in order to FTP my documents? or my FTP name?

Ive created a database and a username and password and entered those correctly I am sure.

anyway, when I press continue. It says this:

Access denied for user 'experime_adminis'@'bargainhost3.bargainhosts.co.uk' (using password: YES)

Can anyone help please. cheers

If your mysql server is on the same physical server as your web server, the host name will be localhost. If your mysql server is on a different physical server from your web server, the host name will either be the IP address of the mysql server or a DNS name that your hosting company has given it (for example mysql.hostingcompany.com) In your web site control panel, where you created the database, the host name and/or IP address was probably listed, otherwise you will need to get this information from your hosting company.
