rhwebb71
I am trying to install a mdb database onto the server throught the web-based installation. It keeps freezing on me in step 2. Is it because the database is Microsoft Access? I have already transferred the database via SmartFTP into the catalog/admin directory. Also, in the field asking for database name, does it require an extension? Is the username/password for access to the site or to the database? In the database server field, do I need to include the catalog/admin folders? Alot of questions, but I am stuck here. Any help will be greatly appreciated. rhwebb71
http://www.oscommerce.info/kb/osCommerce/I...on_and_Upgrades The_Bear I followed the documentation and did the preinstallation stuff...from what I can tell I am doing everything correctly. Is there something that I need to do to the MS Access database such as Migration? Does the version of PHP matter? I tested this at home where I am using PHP 5 and MySQL 4(I think) and it works fine. I just can't get past step 2. Is there anyone I can call for walkthrough setup? Thanks!

The empty database that the installation instructions direct you to create is a mysql database. If you have existing product and customer information in an Access database, you will need to find a way of exporting this and then importing this correctly into the mysql database. If your installation is staying in step 2, it is not due to the presence of your Access database. To help us to help you with your installation problems, let us know what operating system, web server software, and version of oscommerce you are using (ie. latest or an earlier version.) You say you have installed this on a home computer and it works. Now you are installing this on a remotly hosted server? The most common problems that cause installation to stay in step 2 are configuration incompatibilities (in the php.ini.) A common one is that register_long_arrays needs to be ON. I am running on Windows XP (Home Edition). I don't know if this causes a problem since there is no IIS available. I am able to run MySQLAdministrator 1.1.6 and the MySQL Server 5.0. I do not have OSCommerce on my PC...do I need to have it? I have only been trying to install online. When I did this at home, I used IIS and tested it locally. I did not try to install to OSCommerce. I only tested my PHP files. I checked my php.ini files..the register_long_arrays is ON. Do I need to find out how it is configured on the server that I will be using? rhwebb71
I only have a few hairs left to pull out. If someone could please call me at 1-800-580-0307, ask for Randy, I would greatly appreciate it. Here is the breakdown. I am working on Windows XP Home Edition so there is no IIS on my PC (do I need professional so I can use the IIS?) I have PHP 5.1.1.1, MySQL Server 5.0, MySQLAdmin 1.1.6, MigrationToolKit, and just downloaded Navicat(don't know how to use it yet) Database is Microsoft Access (I tried to create one in Admin..didn't work, I tried the Command Client...kept getting errors) I have uploaded the database to the server in catalog/admin...via SmartFTP Cannot get pass step 2 - it freezes I am fairly new at this as you can tell.
