New Comers May benefit from this program

I hope this program will help the many new commers to osCommerce like I am. Although there are a number of PHP editors on the market, the ones I tried expect me to know the file name of the file I am looking for and whats in it, experienced members will not likely need this program, which indexes the files and allows you to read one then go on to the next without any effort. This saves moving file after file to your php editor at random hoping it's the right one.

I have been having a difficult time finding the exact *php file I want, mostly because I didn't know the name of what file does what. Today I put Yahoo! desktop search to work and it does exactly what I need, should have been using it from the start.

I search this way with it: I did a full index, then put *.php in the search box, this finds all the PHP on the hard drive, you can save the results having a php folder only, listing the files, that you can open and read at will, making it the last time you really have to do the search. I have no difficulty using the full index because the only php files I have are from the osCommerce program. I'm sure you can finesse the search but this method serves me well. If you don't change the original files in this your original osCommerce directory, the next time you need the proper syntex just open the saved copy. Each file you select appears in it's entirety in the right window, to enlarge it for reading purposes select OPEN. Now you can take a copy of the right file to your editor and modify it to your needs.

This is the link http://desktop.yahoo.com/finish

umm... that link leads directly to a page that says

"Thanks for installing"

Not a very good thing to do. I'm not sure that it will install for others, it didn't for me but I'm on a Mac and installers can't work without being given permission to do so.

Don't lead people to any link which immediately executes anything. People want to make their own decisions.

Local: Mac OS X 10.5.8 - Apache 2.2/php 5.3.0/MySQL 5.4.10 • Web Servers: Linux

What do you see when you open up the tep_database-pr2.2-CVS.pdf file that came with your osCommerce download?

You obviously do not need the program with your vast experience indicated by the number of post to your credit, you would never make an error. oops! I did make a mistake, although I checked the link prior to posting obviously forgot to purge the cache. Thirty lashes with a wet noodle. Thanks loads for the commented correction, "not a very good thing to do" , like it was done purposely. I will attempt to err no more.
