HowTo create a new mysql database

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys!

I'm really keen on using your shop system for my page.

But due to my lack of knowledge in administration mysql databases through phpmyadmin i've got no idea how to create the required table in the database.

I am sure, you've had this kind of questions thousand times and more already, but I wasn't able to find a posting which was suitable for my needs.

What I am asking for is if someone could maybe just write down the required commands which to type into phpmyadmin to create a suitable database for osCommerce if I want to use every function of osCommerce.

I've got also no idea how to assign a user to a table.

However I'm pretty confused about all this mysql stuff... please please please help!

I'm also quite unsure if I've pointed out my problem proper, and I'm not even sure if you can understand my really not perfect english, but I really hope anyone can help me.

Greetings, Gee.

You normally create a blank database from your web hosting control panel. Most hosting companies do not allow you to create new databases via phpMyAdmin (only to edit the databases in phpMyAdmin).

Once you have created a blank database in your web hosting control panel then you run the Install of osCommerce and the tables you need are put into the database by the Install procedure.

okay, I've understood everything so far, but how do I create even a blank table in an existing database?

I simply don't know the commands which to type in at the phpmyadmin tool?

Well in your control panel there should be an option for database. There you can add date base and create user with a name and password.

Let us know if you are doing this on a remote web hosting company's server or on a local computer/server.

To install Oscommerce, it is only necessary to create an empty database, with a user name and a password. Oscommerce will create any tables that are needed.

If you still laterally want to do this -

okay, I've understood everything so far, but how do I create even a blank table in an existing database?

Please consult the phpmyadmin documentation, available on their web site - http://www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page/docs.php
