Download solution in OsC?

Hi

How safe is the built in solution to offer products download in OsCommerce?

Is it safe at all or could anyone with basic knowledge in programming/hacking crack the module from the client side or is access to the serverside/controlpanel necessary?

Well then tell us how to protect the download folder.??

give some details if possible.

I use .htaccess to protect my download folder (though some people claim to have had problems once they used .htaccess)

If your hosting uses a control panel to allow you to manage your site, you should be able to password protect your folder through that...

if not... you can read up on it here:

Well Mediajuggle can u give us the text of your .htaccess file for download folder so that we may know what exactly we have to put in it and u can erase your username and password from it.

Also if i password protect the download folder with my control panel, will it have any affect on my customers downloading products.

i didn't code it by hand. Haven't in a long time. I did it through the control panel my hosting provided me and my customers have had no problems downloading files.
