Stretching Header Only Across Page???

I am trying to get just the header and the line below the header to stretch across the page while the rest of the middle stuff stays where it is. I have searched the forums until my eyes are spinning out of my head and I have fiddled with the width in my header.php and the best I have gotten in that the right side will strecth but not the left.... :blink:

 

Can anyone please help or tell me if OSC can't do what I am asking???

If you want my opinion, your site in its current state looks better than the one you are trying to model. That being said, I'm not sure what you have tried with your header.php file, however you should allow the main table there to remain at the default 100% width. While the body of your page, that table would have your fixed width settings.

Try installing one of the center shops contriubitons. You will need to use a background color or image to fill in behind the header. Using this method will give the best results for all screen resolutions.
