Choosing the items that appear in the "new for december" box, or editing the 'added to catalog' date

Hi all, merry xmas!

 

My problem is that I'm now adding CDs to my store that were released a number of years ago, but as I'm adding them now, I don't want them to appear in the 'new for december' box on the homepage. I don't fancy the idea of altering the date added information in the database so I was just wondering whether anyone knows of a way of choosing which items will appear in the 'new for december' area.

 

If I do need to change the product information (directly from the database or whatever), what's the easiest way of doing it?
