Sharon_U Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Hi, I'm not a techie and I'm new to the shopping cart idea (though I've shopped online). Thought I would give osCommerce a try with the basic storefront I plan to have selling products I use as a jewelry designer. My question: where is the phpmyadmin? Here's what I've done so far.. I went to my cpanel that my webhosting provides and clicked on mysql account maint. I created sharonu_jewelsdata with a user name and pwd. I think the next step is to manually enter my inventory, but I don't understand how or where?!? Thanks in advance for your earliest reply. Sincerely, Sharon P.S. I'm read a few pages into the documentation file that I downloaded, but it's over my head.
Guest Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 phpadmin is all dependent upon your host, if they have given you acces. you need to discuss this with them.

After you create the database, user and password, your next step is to install oscommerce and get it functioning. You can then create categories, products, and enter your information using the admin section of oscommerce. There are ways of mass entering product data, that you can find through searching on the OSC web site or in this forum. Phpmyadmin (http://www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page/index.php) is an aftermarket product (a PHP script in fact) that allows you to manage your mysql database. As has already been posted, this is provided by your hosting provider. An alternative product, that provides similar functionality, is MySql Administrator (http://www.mysql.com/products/administrator). This is a Windows based program that allows you to connect remotely to your database (I specifically use this to connect and make backups of my databases.)
