tmgrood Posted December 23, 2005 Author Posted December 23, 2005 Kind of scarey when there's no feedback after two days. I'm a victim of circumstance
Andrew Yuen Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Your site is very similar to default OScommerce. Your buttons don't match your color scheme. I recommend creating a logo. Take the arrow out of "Computers->". Your resource box has two corners while the rest of your boxes do not. In your price descriptions bold for example "Brand:" "Series:" etc. Consider the "Custom Computer Creator" mod and offering custom built computers. Andrew Yuen osCommerce, Community Team
stevenrwoolley Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 I like your site. Everything looks great and seems to work correctly. You might want to have a more transparent store front. It is difficult for people to do business with a company that has no real address. The contact page just goes to the email. Maybe set up a phone number and an address. Something to make the appearance of an established, not going anywhere shop instead of hiding behind the internet. Not that you are, just something to make your customer feel more comfortable. I like the idea that shipping is included in the price and think that it will really work for you. This is just a personal preference, but I think you should have the geek tip and the secure boxes change places. The Geek Tip brings knowledge and trust to your site and helps you sell your products and I would have it just under the categories. Maybe add some software bundles and accessories. I viewed a site similar to your that had the computer broke down into groups like bare bones all the way to extreme gamer. You can also change up the images between to products. I know that the cases are the same, but if you could differentiate them visually. ie. Color, drop-shadow, something, it will help reinforce the difference that the customers are reading. All in all this is a great site and as you add products it will only get better.
tmgrood Posted December 23, 2005 Author Posted December 23, 2005 I value your suggestions. You've both brought up some very good points. Wow, its amazing how much one can miss or think of. Thanks to both of you. I'm a victim of circumstance

Check it out : http://ageeknamedtim.com You site's look is clean and as was mentioned a mostly stock osC layout. Now realize that I have a large monitor with my resolution set for 1280x960, so there is plenty of space for display. The one suggestion I would make is to make your columns a little bit wider, because as it displays right now, your text is wrapping, on your categories for example. That's always something I find a little bit awkward. Again it may be due to my large screen, however it appears that you have plenty of room in the center of your pages that you might be able to allocate some more space to the columns. Be well, Tina If you're not having fun you're not doing it right Teach a person to fish rather than give them a loaf of bread or however that saying goes.
