Installation & Setup Teething Problems

Hi,

I've installed a copy of OSC on http://www.idealdeals.co.uk/store and am having a couple of teething problems with it.

1. I have an account with protx so I've installed the Protx contrib (1.09) and can't find where to enter my VenderTXcode (it doesn't give me an option in the installation area, I figured it's in the code somewhere?, had a look and can't see anything), can anybody shed any light?

2. I have installed a test product which I'm trying to buy using a real CC but it appears although I'm setting values and tax etc for my product it's not showing it's price or any important values in the store. The product is http://www.idealdeals.co.uk/store/test-p-29.html if you somebody doesn't mind having a quick ganders for me in case it's something obvious?

3. I've installed the shoddy STS (template system) and it's giving my all sorts of javascript, meta, code problems. Does anybody know if this has ever been used successfully? I've asked in the correct thread but it appears there are hundreds like me still waiting for replies to support.

Please, please, please have a quick look at the site if you know a thing or two about OSC as you might be able to tell me straight away what the score is?

Thanks in advance.

OK,

I've erased STS as it's crap and am working on the main files for my design which I can handle. I now have now errors other than.....

All my products appear to not hold their value, they all have ?0.00 next to their price even though they have prics in the admin panel?

I've re-installed the standard products to test it and it's doing it on those too.

What the hell could I have done to cause this?

Anybody have a clue?

Download and edit includes/languages/english.php and where you see 'USD' change it to 'GBP'

Your domain is .co.uk so I am assuming you've added UK Pounds (GBP) and made it your default currency. When osCommerce was written it was assumed that if English was your language then the US Dollar was your currency.

Thanks,

I am too impatient as I had already re-installed the whole thing and customised it and installed all the contribs again.

BUT!.... now I'm having the same problem..... I have changed all USD to GBP and tried it out, it looks all ? (GBP) in the store but when you pay and go to paypal or protx it converts back to USD again. Now if I change the description of the currency in the admin panel it Set's everything to Zero again?

help!

Also, on this installation i can't seem to get the title of the store to change from osCommerce, what's that all about? I've CHMOD'd the configure to an from all settings and it does save other settings just not the bloody site name!

Grrr this is a dodgy system we got goin here! lol

I've found that it's a bug in the system and I can't find out how anybody gets around it. Looking at the UK Stores they don't!

Doesn't anybody know a way of getting around it?

It's not a bug in the system - it's just a lack of knowledge on your part (sorry!). osCommerce works fine in the UK, you just have to set it up correctly.

Check the following to make sure you added the currency correctly in the first place:

Title: UK Pounds

Code: GBP

Symbol Left: ?

Symbol Right: nothing in here

Decimal Point: .

Thousands Point: ,

Decimal Places: 2

Value: 1.00

Then you need to tick the box to set as 'Default Currency' and then click the 'Update Currencies'. Provided you do that and have edited includes/languages/english.php to show 'GBP' and not 'USD' then it should work.

I've checked all the above and it's set as you suggest already so apparently it's not a problem with my knowledge?

I'm trying to allow the store to not have multiple languages and to have only one currency, GBP.

It appears that I can 'ghost' the settings over the USD and just manipulate the settings but when you click to buy and it takes you to pay (either with paypal or protx) it appears to never carry the balance over.

The only way that I can see as many have suggested is to have two currencies (USD and GBP) and just let the user select GBP but this doesn't help an only UK store.

If anybody comes up with an answer let me know, I'll track the topic and study Zen Cart and the likes in the mean time.
