Guest Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Hello my fellow techies and Developers, For the last two years I been Integrating OSCommerce shopping Carts for many of my clients. Most of the time they were using a web hosting company that automatically installs a shared SSL certificate for them when they install OS Commerce. Now that I have started my own Web Hosting company, I been faced with a few issues. Can someone tell me what would be good approach to Installing an SSL Certificate. 1. woould it be easier to secure the whole web site under https:// ? Or just secure the Admin and Payment processing side? What are the Pros and Cons. Please respond thank you
Jack_mcs Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 You only need to use the normal method of securing the shop, meaning only secure the pages that need it like the login and checkout pages. Securing the other pages makes no difference for security, will slow down the site and will increase server load. There's no reason to secure the admin at all. The database aleady has a secure connection to the server and there is no other tranfers going on so there's just no reason to secure it, at least as far as I can see.
